ORDINANCE SETTING SPEED LIMITS
FANNIN-ROSS BARNETT RESERVOIR ROAD (FANNIN LANDING CIRCLE) SANDHILL-RATLIFF ROAD (NORTH SANDHILL ROAD/COAL BLUFF ROAD) STUBBLEFIELD ROAD TO HIGHWAY 468 (BETHEL ROAD)
CLARKSBURG-LEESBURG ROAD (BARKER ROAD)
Whereas, the Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, having met at a regularly scheduled meeting, considered a request to set the posted speed limits on the following roads in Rankin County:
Fannin-Ross Barnett Reservoir Road (Fannin Landing Circle)
Sandhill-Ratliff Road (North Sandhill Road/Coal Bluff Road)
Stubblefield Road to Highway 468 (Bethel Road)
Clarksburg-Leesburg Road (Barker Road); and
Whereas, after an inspection of the roads, the access and exit points adjoining the roads, the traffic using the roads, and other relevant factors, the Board finds that the appropriate speed should be established.
IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED that the speed limits for the following roads are set as follows and these limits shall be posted according to law and custom:
Fannin-Ross Barnett Reservoir Road (Fannin Landing Circle)
35 mph- posted speed (outside city limits)Sandhill-Ratliff Road (North Sandhill Road/Coal Bluff Road)
35 mph - posted speed (outside city limits)Stubblefield Road to Highway 468 (Bethel Road)
35 mph - posted speed (outside city limits)
Clarksburg-Leesburg Road (Barker Road)
30 mph - posted speed (outside city limits)
IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED that violation of these posted speed limits shall be a misdemeanor and upon conviction any person violating said speed limits shall be subject to a fine in an amount not to exceed $100.00, plus all court costs.
SO ORDAINED, this the 6th day of April, 2009.
